Quemoy is a site of conflict. Its town layout reflects historical factors: the eastern coast, shaped by piracy and sea winds, features organic, winding streets, while the newer western towns follow a grid design. The blend of traditional Fujian-style architecture and modern concrete buildings showcases changes in human thought.
This curation uses contrasts to explore the conflict between humans and nature, utilizing Quemoy’s sea salt and soil as primary materials. Two artists present works that reflect their ecological explorations during their residency, examining the potential for balance in their ideas.
